International Founder’s Day 2020 - Going Borderless
Thursday, August 30, 2018 / by The Boys' Brigade in MalaysiaThe Founder’s Day is being celebrated for the vision of Sir William Alexander Smith, the Founder of The Boys’ Brigade as he started the movement back in Scotland on the 4th of October 1883. The Founder’s Day is typically celebrated during the month of October with dates favorable to the 4th or the 27th of October or the first or last weekend of October.
Nonetheless, in Malaysia, this event is celebrated at the local Company or State level with various activities ranging from games to Word sharing to continue in reaching out to the young people that BB shepherds.
However, this year with the pandemic and many Companies unable to celebrate this tradition, the National team decided to organize the International Founder’s Day. A bold claim of name indeed but the intention is to just a simple fellowship, fun and fostering friendship among BB members across the world.
The event was held on the 31st October 2020 at 8pm.
It was attended by boys and girls, Officers, parents and BB Alumni from Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, African countries and Malaysia. It was held via the Zoom (www.zoom.us) platform. Even though there are many unforeseen hiccups throughout the event, everyone had an enjoyable time.
We also like to thank those who have supported us through the purchase of the merchandise and through attending the International Founder’s Day event. It is indeed a memorable one and it is a joy to see over 400 BB members and Officers enjoyed themselves and hearing the message of the Word.
We look forward to next year’s International Founder’s Day that we hope to co-organized with another BB Country.
